Lagos is a town with plenty of fun things to do. An excellent choice for those who are looking for variety. There is a great range of things to see, beautiful beaches, modern restaurants and fun bars. It can feel quite touristy during high season, but it is still worth a visit.
Things to do in Lagos
Ponta de Piedade
A visit to Ponta da Piedade is a must when you are in Lagos. It is an absolutely stunning place with impressive rock formations and caves. See it from above to enjoy breathtaking views or get up close by boat or kayak.
Lagos downtown
So much to see in Lagos. I recommend starting with a visit to the local market, Mercado Municipal de Lagos, as they close early.
After the visit, continue in towards the old town and discover all the cute alleys. Make sure to stop at Praça Luís de Camões, a charming plaza with the famous green tiled house and Igreja de Santa Maria. At the end of the old town, you'll find the city walls and Lagos Castle.
From there, make your way through the market stands by the waterfront and continue straight to Lagos Marina for an ice cream break.
Lagos beach
Lagos is home to some of the best beaches in Algarve. My favourites are the smaller scenic beaches, Praia Dona Ana and Praia Do Camilo. The beaches here have soft sand, beautiful cliffs and blue water (can get pretty crowded during peak season though).
Where to eat and drink in Lagos
Delicious grilled meat and fish in a lovely ambiance: Arribalé and Casa do Prego
Winebar with delicious tapas with a twist: A Petisqueira
An excellent place for fresh and healthy flavours: Poké Lagos
